Privacy Policy
The Thornhill Baseball Club (the Club) is committed to keeping the personal information of its members accurate, confidential, private and as secure as is technically and financially possible.
Personal information the Club collects from its members includes:
- members’ names and addresses and other contact information, such as telephone numbers and email addresses;
- facts about members’ age, previous playing, coaching, managing experience and, in some cases, umpiring experience, both historic and current;
- photos of members participating in Club activities; and
- information about sponsors’ and suppliers’ transactions with the Club.
The Club limits the amount and type of information it collects to that which is necessary for its
operations. Additional purposes for collecting personal information may be identified to an individual before or at the time of collection. However, at minimum, the Club will collect personal information for the following purposes:
- to provide members the opportunity to participate in the activities of the Club and to register for such membership;
- to assist the Club in the collection of membership and sponsorship fees;
- to assist the Club in establishing and balancing teams;
- to contact players, coaches, parents or guardians, umpires;
- to respond to members’ inquiries about the status of their membership; and
- to prevent fraud with respect to both the member or sponsor and the Club.
When an individual applies for membership, the Club will make the individual aware of the purposes for which the Club is requesting the personal information. If the Club identifies other purposes for which the personal information may be used, the Club will seek the individual’s consent prior to such use. The Club will use and/or disclose personal information without an individual’s consent only in limited circumstances (such as, for example, on the Club’s web site in order to facilitate internal team communications and scheduling changes and in photos to appear in any promotional material produced by the Club). The Club will advise that it is the individual’s right to refuse permission for the Club to use personal information for any new purposes.
Any member of the Club can have access to the personal information about them that the Club has in its possession or control. Any member may request that their personal information be amended for the purpose of accuracy and completeness and have it amended where the information is proven to be incorrect.
